“CHRIST IN THE PASSOVER” COMING TO ROCKVILLE ON APRIL 13

Only scheduled presentation on Maundy Thursday in Connecticut

Union Church, located at the corner of Union and Elm Streets in the historic Rockville section of Vernon, is hosting “Christ in the Passover” on Maundy Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in the gorgeous circa 1890, 600-seat sanctuary. The event is free and open to the public. The facility is handicapped-accessible.

During the presentation, Max Raev with Jews for Jesus will recreate the traditional Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus’ death and resurrection. He will set a table with items traditionally used at the Passover meal and detail their spiritual significance. He will explain the connection between the events of the first Passover in Egypt and the redemption that Jesus accomplished, as well as the deep bond between the ancient Passover feast and the Christian communion celebration today. After the presentation, he will be available to answer questions and will have a display with DVDs and other items for sale.

Founded in 1973 during the Jesus Movement, Jews for Jesus has presented “Christ in the Passover” at over 38,000 churches. This is the only Maundy Thursday presentation in the State of Connecticut. The word Maundy is derived from the Latin word for command, and it refers to the command that Jesus gave to his disciples at the Last Supper, that they should love and serve one another.
